#Meettheogs2024

On that day, September 6, 2021...

On that day, September 6, 2021 (a day that would forever become significant in my life), a mutual friend posted the picture of a friend that was celebrating her birthday on IG. Luckily for me, I was scrolling through my timeline at the time and saw the picture of this beautiful lady we now know to be my wife haha.

As the bold boy that I am, I decided to send her a birthday wish, half expecting not to get a response. Thankfully, she replied!

We quickly became friends after then through our seamless conversations. We just never seemed to run out of things to talk about (even now).

After a couple of months of being friends, we had an opportunity to finally meet in person. I won’t go too much into the details, but I drove 6hrs to get a chance to meet a babe, just imagine!!!

As soon as we met, it was like we had known each other for years.

We just had so much to talk about that I didn’t want to leave (even tho I and my cohorts were driving 6hrs back to where we came from the next morning haha). It was a meeting that exceeded every expectation I had and I just couldn’t help but start to imagine our life together after that.

Fast forward another couple of months of continued conversations and getting to know each other and other life events (which I won’t go into), we planned another meeting after plenty shakara from her. I decided to rent an apartment and work in her city for a month.

This gave us the opportunity to spend more quality time together in person. It was during this time we both decided to enter into a relationship together. And as they say, the rest is history in the making!!!

Ayanfe mi, I am grateful to God everyday that we met and I am super excited to do this life journey with you! I love you!

I was on my own when a stranger...

I was on my own when a stranger came to write an epistle to me on my birthday and was wishing me heaven and earth via IG DMs. As a nice girl, I just gave a little “thank you” and that really was the start of an amazing friendship that blossomed into the beautiful marriage we have today.

Tolu doesn’t play when it comes to showing me his intentions and one of the first things I remember was the first time we met.

I mentioned in passing that I would be in Ottawa for a couple of days during one of our discussions and he said he would like to come see me but I didn’t take it seriously- as I do LOL. Little did I know that he was actually making plans to come see me. He didn’t have a car then so he begged his friends to go on a 6hr road trip EACH WAY to freezing Ottawa in the middle of January 2022, I honestly don’t know why they agreed to this but we thank God.

We had only been friends on and off for a couple of months when he did this and I wasn’t even single, hehe. But we had the best time getting to know each other even more but still remained friends.

After that trip, we kept in-touch and things were going fine until he went to Barbados in February 2022.

He was on vacation with his family but he was now telling me about some random bajan girl on a dating app and I realized my chest was boiling a little. I couldn’t hide it on my face so he could tell that feelings have been caught 🙈. He literally stayed glued to his phone talking to me the entire trip (even to sleep was war).

As the good lord would have it, my relationship at the time scattered on its own (due to natural causes).

Oga saw an opportunity and planned a trip to Vancouver to “site see” for about a month in May 2022 (thankfully he paid for a flight this time and didn’t make anyone drive him).

I didn’t promise that I would see him during his stay but he still came anyways. I was like “don’t come because of me oh, you can explore and if we run into each other then we do” LOL. Of course we ended up spending everyday together and I even carried tour-guide duties on my head.

Long story short but, a staycation on Vancouver island and a few at home candle lit dinners later, he asked me to be his girlfriend.

I took my time to respond because I knew deep down that this was it for me and I was sooo nervous.

Our relationship officially started in May 2022, when I said yes to being his girlfriend and we have been saying yes to each other ever since….
